Celebrating Shared Learning

One of Performance Excellence Northwest’s (PENW) core values is Shared Learning. PENW recognizes organizational excellence in the greater Northwest including Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. It takes time, dedication and persistence to earn PENW Recognition. These efforts generate new knowledge, share best practices and create a “Community of Learning” to provide value beyond any individual organization. All of the recipients of PENW recognition are actively using Performance Excellence principles and core values in their organizations and demonstrating valuable results.

Recognition for Your Achievement

The Panel of Judges is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the integrity of the Recognition Program. To reflect the diverse and expansive environment of the vast Northwest which we serve, PENW revised the program to recognize organizations who successfully complete Lite or Full Applications at the following levels:

Lite Applications (submission of a 5-page Organizational Profile + 20-pages written responses to questions in the Baldrige Excellence Builder)

  • Trailhead Level (completing the Organizational Profile)
  • Base Camp Level (completing the 20-pages written responses)

Full Applications (submission of a 5-page Organizational Profile + 50 page Application addressing the questions in the Performance Excellence Framework)

  • Mt. Hood Emerging Level: For organizations that have fulfilled the requirements of the first level of the Full Application, this certificate recognizes that you are beginning to adopt and apply the performance excellence principles defined by the Baldrige Excellence Framework.
  • Mt. Idaho Achievement Level: This intermediate level recognition is for those organizations submitting a full application that have demonstrated significant progress towards excellence and implementing processes for continuous improvement.
  • Mt. Rainier Leadership Level: This is an advanced level for organizations submitting a full application that have demonstrated significant progress towards implementing the proven best practices identified in the Baldrige Excellence Framework.
  • Mt. Denali Excellence Level: This level recognizes organizations submitting a full application that have demonstrated the highest level of excellence. It’s at this level your organization should consider working with the national Baldrige Performance Excellence program, which leads to opportunities for national recognition with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation’s only Presidential award for performance excellence.
